We went to SUPREME DUMPLINGS !!! Located at Ala Moana next to Shabuya. We didnt get to try EVERYTHING buut we were able to get the supreme assortment and it was such a great way to try them ALL !! Along with their supreme spicy pork dumplings ! definitely a dintai fung dupe, or maybe even better 👀! For dessert we had to get the chocolate melt xiao long bao and it was Heaven ! 📍Supreme Dumpling- Ala Moana Asthetic: 8/10 Location: 9/10 Taste: 5/10 Service: 9/10 Parking was super easy since it’s located on the second floor of Ala Moana. The restaurant itself has a modern, clean design that made a great first impression. At the moment, it’s reservation-only, so you can pause the video and scan the QR code to book through Yelp if you’re planning to visit. The service was great, and all of our food came out in a timely manner. For context, xiao long bao is one of my favorite foods. I’ve traveled throughout Asia and have eaten at Din Tai Fung multiple times in California, so that’s naturally the standard I’m comparing it to. The pan-fried dumplings were very juicy, but the pork filling wasn’t my favorite. The meat had a crumbly texture and a noticeable pork aftertaste that didn’t quite work for me. Next was the tan tan noodles. The noodles themselves were cooked perfectly with a great chewy texture. The sauce, however, was a miss for me. Traditionally, I look for a balance of nuttiness from the sesame and a gentle kick of spice, but this version didn’t quite find that balance. Even so, if I had to pick a favorite savory dish from everything we ordered, this would be it. Sadly, for the xiao long bao this was the lowest-scoring dish for me. The wrapper was actually well made, but the filling lacked the fresh, rich broth flavor that I usually look for in a good xiao long bao. The meat also had a much softer, crumblier texture than I prefer. From my experience from learning about how it’s made, it almost seemed as though the ginger may have been mixed into the filling for too long before cooking. One possible explanation is that ginger contains enzymes that can start breaking down proteins if the filling sits too long, which might leave the meat with a softer, almost mushy texture. I obviously can’t say that’s exactly what happened here, but that was one possible reason the texture reminded me of that. Lastly, we tried the matcha lava xiao long bao, and I actually really enjoyed it! It reminded me of a matcha latte bursting in your mouth. Unfortunately, I completely forgot to film it. 😭 Overall: My family and I have been watching this restaurant being built for months, so we were genuinely excited for its opening. Because of that, I left feeling a little disappointed. That said, this is simply my personal foodie opinion based on my own experiences and the places I’ve been fortunate enough to try. Taste is subjective, and everyone looks for something different, so don’t let my review stop you from giving it a chance and forming your own opinion. #supremedumplings #alamoana #hawaiifoodie #honestreviews #Foodie

📍Supreme Dumplings, Ala Moana Center In its soft opening with reservations only on Yelp, this new dumpling spot is in the old Whalbhrger space. The Xiao Long Bao is their star dish. We also got garlic cabbage, black pepper beef, shrimp fried rice, and pan fried pork dumplings. The peach tea and frozen mango lemonade were tasty too! All this came to a little under $100, it’s not a cheap date night but the friendly service was fast and the restaurant is trendy and comfortable.
