The chili chicken soup special is a sad bowl of liquid and bland chicken with about 4 tiny pepper slices thrown in (it was $12). The staff won't check in on you and you can tell that they view customers' presence as a nuisance. Beyond their unwelcoming vibes, there was small but weird details like not offering to clear empty dishes when the when the table was super full (leaving a mess of old plates I had stacked while they watched with an impatient expression), putting dirty menus directly on the chopsticks, and loudly clanging dishes in the background in an angry way lol. The xiao long baos were fine at least, on par with Costco's. Go somewhere else for your XLBs - this place is overpriced and overrated.
Make a reservation to avoid the wait. Lots of ambiance noise and music. Feels a bit overwhelming at first.
Great new dumpling restaurant in Redmond Town Center! The food was fresh and delicious; I especially liked the spicy shrimp and pork wontons and the honey walnut shrimp. There are so many more dishes that I want to try so I will be going back there soon. The staff was friendly and attentive and the ambiance is warm and welcoming. One of the best dumpling restaurants in the area!
If you’re planning to dine here, plan ahead—not just for your reservation, but also for Ala Moana parking and weekend traffic. Finding parking can easily become the most stressful part of the experience. We made our reservation on the first day it became available on Yelp and secured a 1:45 PM Saturday seating. When we arrived, the restaurant was packed, and we overheard the wait for walk-ins was around an hour. Thankfully, we were seated immediately. Unfortunately, the two dishes we came specifically for—the Supreme Pork Xiao Long Bao and Mini Pan-Fried Pork Dumplings—were already sold out before 2:00 PM. That was disappointing, especially considering they’re two of the restaurant’s signature items. The restaurant had only been open for about 2 hours and 45 minutes, and you could see staff continuously making dumplings. Instead, we ordered the Szechuan Spicy Pork Xiao Long Bao. The red wrapper was a nice touch, and I’d rate the spice level around 3/5. The soup filling was generous, and adding the black vinegar, soy sauce, and ginger balanced the heat nicely, although it still wasn’t quite the “wow” bite we were hoping for. The Wagyu Beef Xiao Long Bao was enjoyable, and you could definitely taste the difference between the beef and traditional pork filling. The Pork Chop Fried Rice was one of our favorites, with generous portions of crispy pork that reminded us more of a pork cutlet than a traditional Chinese pork chop. We also ordered the Supreme Tan Tan Noodles after confirming they were a dry noodle dish. However, they arrived much saucier than expected—almost like a soup. After mixing everything together, the peanut flavor really stood out, and the spice level was mild. Tasty overall, just not what we expected. Service was attentive throughout the meal. Our waiter checked on us regularly, and the pacing between dishes was comfortable. We did notice several servers accidentally bringing dishes to our table that belonged to other guests, but it wasn’t a major issue. Before dessert, we would have appreciated a quick table reset. While we received clean dessert bowls, our used chopsticks and utensils remained on the table. Fresh utensils would have made it easier to fully enjoy the desserts without the lingering flavors from the savory dishes. For dessert, we tried both the Chocolate Melt Xiao Long Bao and Matcha Lava Xiao Long Bao. Fresh out of the steamer, the fillings were very thin. Letting them cool for a few minutes allowed the fillings to thicken, making them much more enjoyable. The chocolate version was our favorite, while the matcha flavor was fairly subtle and tasted more like white chocolate than matcha. Other small observations: the self-serve water pitcher was convenient, but the water wasn’t served with ice. The restroom was small but clean, and the complimentary mouthwash dispenser was a thoughtful touch after a meal full of spices. As huge Din Tai Fung (DTF) fans, that’s naturally our benchmark. While this didn’t quite reach that level, we can confidently say Supreme Dumpling is currently the best place on the Hawaiian Islands for Xiao Long Bao—at least so far. Despite missing out on the signature pork dumplings, we’ll definitely be back to try them, along with more of the menu. Next time, we’ll make sure to arrive even earlier before the favorites sell out.
Seating is a little crowded. Benches are too low for the tables. Great food. Good staff. Make a reservation unless you don’t mind a long wait.
Delicious food and amazing service. Our server Thomas pointed us in all of the right directions! He was not only very helpful, but he was also extremely friendly, knowledgeable, funny, and kind. 10/10 recommend!
Yummy food and fast service. Our beautiful waiter, Thomas was very kind and attentive!
Angelina is a sweet and patient server. I’m Asian and had XLB many times, but wanted to know which one was colorful. Anyways, I asked a lot of questions and glad she was our server. I believe the service will make or break this place. Also, whether the restaurant will have draft LOCAL beer. Highly recommend considering pairing draft local beer. We have great local IPA that would be great with Szechuan peppers. Also it’s respect to support local.
We came to eat today, not knowing what to expect and omg we where just blown away by this place. Mainly, our server Johnson was the cherry on top to our whole experience. His service was spectacular but most of all we asked him to surprise us with food choices and his versatile knowledge on the menu made everything that he brought out our favorite. As a server myself, I would solely come back for his service although the food is a plus too! Again thank you so much and GREAT JOB JOHNSON!!! :)
Holy crap this spots better than DTF. 11/10. Best dumplings I’ve had in hawaii. Beef roll 9.5/10 Insanely thin wrapper, super delicate, great umami and tons of soup. If I had a critique it would be to do the truffle flavor with pork not chicken. Jerica was awesome and super accommodating for our baby.
All of the staff were welcoming and friendly, but most importantly, everything we ordered was delicious! We ordered the shrimp & pork xiao long bao, mini pan-fried dumplings (crispy on one side and soft and chewy on the other), spicy cucumber, shrimp fried rice, and the brown sugar mochi rice cake. Every dish was excellent. Our server, Alice, was attentive, friendly, and provided great service throughout our meal.
